Asian filmfest Barcelona honors ‘Old Men Never Die’

Iranian flick ‘Old Men Never Die’ wins an award at the Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain.

Iranian flick ‘Old Men Never Die’ has been honored at the Asian Film Festival Barcelona (Casa Asia) in Spain.

Reza Jamali’s directorial debut has grabbed a special mention at the 2020 edition of the Spanish event.

It is about 100-year-old Aslan, the head of a death squad in his youth, who lives with his other single old fellows in a remote village.

Since he came to the village 45 years ago, nobody has ever died there! Now, most of the population consists of old and disabled men.

All being done with life, they believe the only way to bring death back to the village is to commit suicide!

The 85-minute film has attended a number of global events, succeeding to grab the best actor award at the 3rd International Bak Film Festival in Turkey and the Spirit of Asia award at the 32nd Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan.

‘Old Men Never Die’ has also been screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival in China and the International Film Festival of India.

Specializing in Asian films, the Casa Asia is the gateway to Asian cinema in Spain. It aims to bring the high-quality narrative art of the Asian continent to the Spanish public, making it a place of gathering and dialogue among multiple cultures.

The 2020 edition of the event was held on October 28-November 8 in Barcelona.
