Iranian ‘The Castle’ to compete at Japanese fest

Iranian short ‘The Castle’ is to compete at the 2020 MEIHODO filmfest in Japan.

Iranian short flick ‘The Castle’ has been selected to compete at the 3rd edition of the MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival (MIYVMF) in Japan.

Written and directed by Saba Qasemi, the short film will compete at the Japanese festival alongside a good number of other Iranian titles.

A brief synopsis of ‘The Castle’ reads, “Some castles are made of bricks. Some are made out of books, but all castles stand by memories”.

The cast list of the short film includes Sajjad Tabesh, Sima Sheybani, Mahdokht Molaee, Emad Emami, Armin Sayyad, and Ali Nasir.

The short flick has previously gone on screen at several film festivals, including the 16th Angel Film Awards-Monaco International Film Festival and the 1st annual Arizona International Short Film Festival, both in the US.

Founded in 2018, the MIYVMF aims to support young visual artists from around the world.

Based on the festival’s official website, the event includes four sections of “theme works exhibition, the exchange of works, and the evaluation and award ceremony”.

The 2020 edition of the MIYVMF is slated for December 23-30.
