Usak Film Fest hosting Iranian ‘Raya’

Iran’s ‘Raya’ is screening at the Int’l Usak Short Film Festival in Turkey.

Iranian short film ‘Raya’ is being screened at the 7th edition of the International Usak Short Film Festival (UFF) in Turkey.

Directed by Sepideh Berenji, the 13-minute short is among the titles screening at the International Short Film Competition of the Turkish fest.

‘Raya’ is the story of a little school girl who wishes to take control of her life with her thinking faculty. She tries to find solutions for the troubles she experiences either at home or school.

The short film has already taken part at a number of film events, including the Nahal International Student Short Film Festival in Iran and the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

This year the UFF has specified a section titled ‘Alternative Sounds: Iranian New Wave’ to Iranian filmmakers. A total number of 7 Iranian short works are on screen at this category of the film event. 

Ark Brothers’ ‘Animal’, ‘The White Tree’ by Farima Khalili and the ‘Cleaner’ directed by Mohammad-Reza Meyqani are three of those films which have already been showcased at other Turkish film events. 

Also being among the films of this section are ‘Cafeka’ by M. Hadi Amini, ‘Reverence’ by Sogol Rezvani, Hamed Aslani’s ‘S’ and ‘The Wolves’ by Amir Reza Jalalian which are getting their Turkish premiere.

The 7th edition of the UFF, which kicked off on December 12 and will run to December 20, is an online fest.

According to Mehrnews Agencey in Iran, some of the films screening at the Turkish fest will be available for Iranian streamers to watch too.
