Premio Fausto Rossano fest awards ‘The Pains of the Sea’

The 2020 Premio Fausto Rossano Film Festival in Italy awards Iranian short film ‘The Pains of the Sea’.

Iranian short film ‘The Pains of the Sea’ has grabbed the Best Short Film award at the 6th edition of Premio Fausto Rossano Film Festival (PFRFF) in Italy.

Directed by Reza Masoudi, the short narrates the story of several Syrian and Iraqi immigrants who are trying to go to Turkey by crossing the sea.

An immigrant mother has to choose between her own life and her child’s.

The cast of the short includes Sepidar Tari, Parvaneh Moqadam, and Habib Kaebi.

Some of the crew members are scriptwriter Mohammad Reza Masoudi, director of cinematography Atef Amiri, and editor Naser Sajadi Hosseini.

The short has previously participated in the 4th edition of the Ramsgate International Film Festival in the UK and the 2020 Smaragdni Eco Film Festival in Croatia.

The PFRFF aims to promote works with the theme of social awareness. It promotes works that depict physical suffering and focus on the importance of the individual.

The event closed on December 19 with the announcement of all the winners.
