May 24, memorable occasion for all Iranians…wondering why?

May 24, 1982 marks a turning point during the Iraq-Iran war as Iranian forces made history against all odds.

Iranian city of Khorramshahr was liberated from its invaders 35 years ago on this date.

Across Iran many honoring ceremonies are mounted each year on May 24 to commemorate those soldiers and army commanders who lost their lives in the feat.

Khorramshahr is a city in Iranian province of Khuzestan Province.

The city was damaged and evacuated during the Iraq-Iran war, but now it is a fairly big city again, as it was before the war.
