Pakistani festival to host Iranian short ‘Refugees’

The 2021 Gandhara Independent Film Festival in Pakistan is to host Iranian ‘Refugees’.

Iranian short flick ‘Refugees’ has been selected to compete at the 2021 edition of the Gandhara Independent Film Festival (GIFF) in Pakistan.

Co-directed by Mahsa Takesh and Mohammad-Amin Fallah, the short film narrates the story of a war-torn city.

The film takes place in a chaotic world that is leading to destruction as a result of World Wars.

In a corner of a city, destroyed by war, Maryam’s family is secretly struggling for survival.

Once, an uninvited guest knocks at their door and begs to take refuge in their house.

Also written by Takesh and Fallah, the cast list of the film includes Elaheh Afshari, Ali Baqeri, and Mahmoud Nazaralian.

According to the GIFF’s website, “it is a standalone platform for independent filmmaking, creative expression, voicing your thoughts along with immersive entertainment”.

The event aims to support emerging voices and filmmakers.

The 2021 edition of the festival is slated for January 9-10.
