Iranian ‘Gabriel’ to vie at Beirut Shorts fest

Iranian ‘Gabriel’ is to vie at the Beirut Shorts Int’l filmfest in Lebanon.

Iranian short flick ‘Gabriel’ has found way to the Beirut Shorts International Film Festival (BSIFF) in Lebanon.

Directed by Yousef Kargar, the short flick will be among the competition titles at the 14th edition of the Lebanese event.

The 18-minute film, made in Turkish language, tells the story of a father who has to choose between love, faith and conscience in difficult conditions.

‘Gabriel’ has had various shooting locations but it has mainly been filmed by the Lake Urmia located between the Iranian provinces of East Azarbaijan and West Azarbaijan.

The film has already been shown at a number of international film events, including the Berkeley Video & Film Festival in the US, the Cheongju International Short filmfest in South Korea and the Flickers’ Rhode Island International filmfest in the US.

Established in 2007, the BSIFF is an annual event with the theme of ‘The Power of Youth’.

It aims to promote young filmmakers’ talents by showcasing their works for a big audience.

This year’s edition of the fest is slated for January 14-20.
