Ali Asgari’s short film will be screened at the international competition section for short films from all over the world outside the Nordic region.
A brief synopsis for the film published on the event’s official website reads, “A mother helps an elderly woman in a shopping mall in Tehran. A tragedy occurs, brutally confronting her with the impact of her actions”.
‘Witness’ has so far taken part in a number of global events, including the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh and the BFI London Film Festival in the UK.
The script for ‘Witness’ has been put together by Asgari himself and Farnoush Samadi, who has won a long list of honors from different international fests.
Asgari as an internationally-recognized cineaste has already been a jury member at some global fests such as the Tirana International Film Festival in Albania.
Launched in 1988, the Minimalen Short Film Festival is held annually in the city of Trondheim in Norway. The fest aims to use films as a medium to tell the old stories from a new angle.
The 33rd edition of the event is slated for January 12-17, 2021.
