93rd Oscars to shortlist 15 films for int’l section

The Oscars 2021 is to shortlist 15 feature film.

The Oscars 2021 has expanded its shortlist of eligible films to compete for the Best International Feature Film.

Due to the pandemic, many things have been changed about cinema and filmmaking, including the selection committee of the international section at the 93rd Oscars.

This year, the committee will watch and review films via an online platform which might put the safety of their final draws in danger.

To reduce the risks, instead of picking 10 films for the first draft of the short list and keeping five other films as the saves, the committee will pick all the 15 films right from the beginning.

The date for announcing the finalized shortlist is variable on February 1-5.

Majid Majidi’s ‘Sun Children’, a film dedicated to all 152 million labor kids around the world, is among the 93 submitted films at the foreign-language movie category of the Oscars this year.

According to a media report published earlier, the Iranian feature is among the forerunners that have great chance to be among the picks.

This year’s edition of the Oscars, which has mostly been held in February, is postponed to April 25 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
