Bangladesh to show ‘Metamorphosis in the Slaughterhouse’

The Int’l Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh is to screen Iran’s ‘Metamorphosis in the Slaughterhouse’.

The 2021 edition of the International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh has been scheduled to screen Iranian feature ‘Metamorphosis in the Slaughterhouse’.

Directed by Javad Daraee and produced by Mehdi Kouhzadeh, the movie narrates the story of a family who must move from their village.

Shadi was a little girl when her parents were accused of murdering a girl and thus killed by the villagers. Then she was adopted by her uncle and grew up. Now, Shadi must face the problems caused by the village residents.

A coproduction of Iran, Germany, and Canada, ‘Metamorphosis in the Slaughterhouse’ went on screen at some global events, including the International Film Festival Cyprus, as well as the Salerno International Film Festival and the Efebo d’oro- International Cinema and Narrative Award, both in Italy.

Fariba Talebi, Saeed Ahmadi, Fariba Torkashvand, Farahnaz Manafi-Zaher, Rhamat Sekar-Khand, Foujan Ahmadi, Mahshid Khosravi, Iman Sarraf, Arezou Balali-Dehkordi, Sarina Yousefi, Mohammad Eqlimi, Amir-Abbas Ghazaee, and Avin Kouhzadeh are on the cast list of the movie.

The International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh is an annual week-long film festival held countrywide, which showcases full-length features, shorts, experimental films made for and by children from around the world.

Launched in 2008, the festival is one of the biggest film events in Bangladesh and also the only international film festival for children and young adults of the country.

The 2021 edition of the event is slated for January 30-February 5.
