London Museum adds "Trump Baby" blimp to collection

The Museum of London adds the giant balloon, which depicted US President Donald Trump as a screaming, diapered baby, to its collection.

The Museum of London says it has added the giant balloon, which depicted Donald Trump as a baby, to its collection as an illustration of the protests that hit Britain during the outgoing US president’s 2018 visit.

The 20-foot balloon depicted Trump as a screaming, diapered baby clutching a cell phone.

It flew above London when Trump made his first official visit to the city in 2018.

“By collecting the baby blimp we can mark the wave of feeling that washed over the city that day and capture a particular moment of resistance — a feeling still relevant today as we live through these exceptionally challenging times — that ultimately shows Londoners banding together in the face of extreme adversity," Sharon Ament, the museum's director, said Monday.

According to the website of the Museum of London, its collections include “over a million objects from thousands of years of London’s history”.

"We hope the baby's place in the museum will stand as a reminder of when London stood against Trump — but will prompt those who see it to examine how they can continue the fight against the politics of hate," said the team behind the "Trump Baby" blimp.

"This large inflatable was just a tiny part of a global movement — a movement that was led by the marginalized people," the blimp’s creators added.
