Over 850 works to vie in Fajr Arts Fest

Over 850 works are set to vie at the Fajr Visual Arts Festival in Iran.

Over 850 works have been selected to participate at the Fajr Visual Arts Festival in Iran.

Ali-Ashraf Sandoqabadi, the director of the 13th Fajr Visual Arts Festival, said the 870 works created by 620 artists have made their way to this year’s edition of the event.

The selected works will take part in the festival’s different sections, including painting, photography, sculpture, and calligraphy, among others.

The works were chosen by 30 jurors from among 7,753 works submitted to the festival.

Sandoqabadi also reported a significant rise in the number of entries for this year’s edition of the festival as only 363 works by 268 artists had applied for the 12th edition of the event.

Earlier reports said this year’s edition of the festival will pay tribute to photographers who contracted the coronavirus or lost their lives to COVID-19 while they were carrying out their duties during the pandemic.

The 13th Fajr Visual Arts Festival will take place in Tehran next month.

The festival coincides with the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
