Cultural week of ‘Gaza a symbol of resistance’ opens in Tehran

The cultural week of ‘Gaza a symbol of resistance’ has been kicked off in Tehran.

On the occasion of the anniversary of 22-day Gaza Massacre, the cultural week of ‘Gaza a symbol of resistance’ has been kicked off in Tehran.

A number of artworks are on display during the cultural week, which has been co-organized by the Sarv and Melal Cultural Centers at the Iranian Art Museum Garden. The event will run through January 28, 2021.

The cultural event has been organized to observe the 13th anniversary of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on December 27, 2008 - January 18, 2009 when Israel launched a major military campaign dubbed “Operation Cast Lead” against Hamas. The assault resulted in 1,417 Gazans dead, including 313 children, and more than 5,500 wounded.

According to Abolqasem Rahimian, the secretary-general of the International Union of Youths and Youngsters against Occupation, one of the initiatives of Iran’s Parliament towards supporting the rights of the Palestinian nation is to remember their resistance against the Zionist occupation, and it has dedicated a day to ‘Gaza a symbol of resistance’.

“Given the Israeli blockade against the Gaza Strip, the people in Gaza have been a unique example of resistance against Zionist crimes,” he added.

Rahimian also stressed that the cultural week aims to continue to support the resistance of Palestinians.
