Iranian documentary ‘A Horse ...’ to vie in US

Iranian doc ‘A Horse Has More Blood than a Human’ is to vie at the 2021 Big Sky filmfest in the US.

Iranian documentary ‘A Horse Has More Blood than a Human’ has been selected to compete at the 18th edition of the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Abolfazl Talouni, the documentary depicts an old couple who leave Tehran for their hometown located close to the Iran-Turkey border.

Their dream of living in their hometown after retirement is ruined when they realize that their beloved destination has changed to an illegal gate for smuggling goods to Europe.

The crew of the documentary includes Mehdi Azadi, Ahmad Afshar, Mohsen Moradi, and Hessam Eslami.

Azadi, the cinematographer of the project, won the Golden Frog-Grand Prix at the 28th edition of the EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Film Festival in Poland.

The documentary has previously competed at the 17th edition of the Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival in China.

The Big Sky aims to support and promote nonfiction films. According to the festival’s official website “Rooted in the heart of the mountain west, The Big Sky Film Institute nurtures and elevates non-fiction films that have the power to transform our world, our culture, our youth, and ourselves”.

The 2021 edition of the event will be held on February 19-28.
