Iran’s ‘The Art of Living in Danger’ qualifies for 93rd Oscars

Iranian doc ‘The Art of Living in Danger’ is qualified for the 93rd Academy Awards.

Iranian documentary ‘The Art of Living in Danger’ has been qualified to take part in the 93rd edition of the Academy Awards in the US.

Directed and written by Mina Keshavarz, the doc will be reviewed at the academy’s members-only screening room, devoted to the flicks in the Best Documentary Feature category.

This year, the primary selection of the eligible docs has been a total of 200 works, which has set a new record in the history of the Oscars.

‘The Art of Living in Danger’ is produced by Keshavarz from Iran as well as Gerd Haag and Kerstin Krieg from Germany.

The doc is about some women who become victims to domestic violence. What they want is to at least be safe within the boundaries of their own homes.

The film takes us along with some brave females who try to put an end to such offensive acts.

‘The Art of Living in Danger’ had its world premiere at the Sheffield International Documentary Film Festival in the UK and won the Mecenat award at the 25th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.

Earlier the academy announced that 'Am I a Wolf?' by Amir-Houshang Moeen and 'Song Sparrow' by Farzaneh Omidvarnia from Iran are among the 96 short animated movies qualifying for the Academy Awards 2021 longlist.

Majid Majidi’s drama 'Sun Children' is Iran’s submission to the foreign-language category of the 2021 Oscars.

Shortlists will be revealed on February 9 and the nominations will be announced on March 15.

The 93rd edition of the Oscars, mostly held in February, is postponed to April 25 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
