Big Sky filmfest awards Iran’s ‘The Snow Calls’

The 2021 Big Sky filmfest in the US awards Iranian doc ‘The Snow Calls’.

The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in the US has awarded Iranian documentary ‘The Snow Calls’.

The Iranian title received the award for the best long documentary at the 18th edition of the US event.

‘The Snow Calls’ is about an expectant mother named Mina who has one last chance to deliver a boy after bearing three daughters, or her husband will marry another woman.

Mina decides not to have an ultrasound scan for fear of the result and the gossip that would ensue.

She is already under enough pressure from her in-laws, although she does still have people on her side too.

The Big Sky aims to support and promote nonfiction films. According to the official website of the event, “Rooted in the heart of the mountain west, The Big Sky Film Institute nurtures and elevates non-fiction films that have the power to transform our world, our culture, our youth, and ourselves”.

The 2021 edition of the event has been slated for February 19-28. The gala announced the winners online on February 25.
