Iranian short ‘The Doll’ to vie in Canada

Iranian short ‘The Doll’ is to compete at the 2021 Vancouver Int’l Women in filmfest in Canada.

Iranian short flick ‘The Doll’ has been selected to compete at the 16th edition of the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival (WIFTV) in Canada.

Directed and written by Nasrin Gol-Reyhan, the short film tells the story of a rescue in the war-torn Syrian city of Aleppo.

In the flick, produced by Hossein Shahabi, a female reporter finds a little girl in the war-torn city and tries to save her life.

Rezvan Beheshtian, Sahar Abdollahi, Mohammad-Javad Asadi, and Nabiollah Minaee are the main cast members of the flick.

The feature has already participated in the 2021 Cefalù Film Festival in Italy and the 2021 California Independent Film Festival in the US.

According to the official website of the WIFTV, “the festival is committed to addressing the systemic barriers to women’s equal participation in the production and dissemination of screen-based media, and to the creation of a more inclusive media for both creators and audiences.

The event present and publicly celebrate the achievement of women in screen-based media and offer professional and project development opportunities.”

The 16th edition of the WIFTV will be held on March 4-14, 2021.
