Iranian ‘Weekend’ wins award at the 2021 ifva Awards in China.

Iranian short flick ‘Weekend’ has won an award at the 26th ifva Awards in China.

Directed by Ario Motevaqqe, the flick received the award for the best Asian short film at the Chinese event.

‘Weekend’ is about two families who go on a picnic in a nearby park. After finishing their meal, it turns out that they are there for something else.

Fardin Qaderi, Mostafa Latifikhah, Sahar Taherkhani, Maliheh Esfandiyari, and Bardia Shariati are on the cast list of the short film.

‘Weekend’ was screened at some global events, including the Kortfilmfestivalen-Norwegian Short Film Festival, the Ischia Film Festival in Italy, and the Tryon International Film Festival in the US.

The short flick has received the Long-Short film award at the KinoDrome International Motion Picture and Screenplay Festival in the US, best narrative short film award at the Tryon International Film Festival in the US, best short film award at the Sedicicorto International Film Festival in Italy, and Best Graveyard Shift Short award at the Nashville Film Festival in the US.

The ifva (formerly the Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards) aims to encourage creativity and innovation.

The fest provides an opportunity for filmmakers from different regions in Asia to come together and share knowledge and experience.

The 2021 edition of the event announced the winners in March.
