In an ifilm exclusive interview, ‘The Patriarch’ star who stood against her father-in-law in the series talks about her role and people’s reactions.

Kamand Amir-Soleimani said to ifilm on a show titled '14 Inches', “My encounter with people has been related to this role as Azar in more than half of my life. Technically more than half of my life.”

She also said that “it is quite interesting that they still keep asking me, “Why did you do such a thing to your father-in-law?”, adding, “I think the patriarchal relation may not be evident  now, but deep down it prevails in our custom.”

'The Patriarch' follows the story of Assadollah who is old school. He controls his family with an iron fist and his word is law. Nobody dares challenge him or talk back. He doesn't let any of his children out of his sight, even after they're married and have their own kids. They're all one big family and all his sons are living in his house with their wives and children. Now it's time for his youngest son to get married, but there's just one problem.

His bride doesn't want to live in Assadollah's house, and she refuses to let the old man or anyone else tell her what to do.
