Las Palmas fest to honor Iranian director Asghar Farhadi

The Las Palmas Int’l filmfest in Spain is to honor Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi.

The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival (LPA film festival) in Spain has been set to honor two-time Oscar-winning Iranian filmmaker, Asghar Farhadi.

Farhadi will be recognized at the 20th edition of the Spanish fest by three of his films being screened.

The fest’s audience will sit to watch his ‘The Salesman’ and ‘A Separation’, the two films which won him his two Oscars. Besides, his ‘About Elly’ will be shown at the event.

Each year, the event gives out ‘Carte Blanche’ to filmmakers of their choice with which they will pick some of their ever favorite movies to be screened.

‘La Strada (The Road)’ by Federico Fellini and ‘Umberto D.’ by Vittorio de Sica have been Farhadi’s picked masterpieces to be shown.

In 2007, Farhadi attended the LPA film festival with his movie ‘Fireworks Wednesday’ and succeeded to grab the Golden Lady Harimaguada award.

This year’s edition of the Spanish event is set to be held on April 9-18 in the island of Gran Canaria in Canary Islands.
