Iranian animation ‘Haboob’ to compete in Germany

Iranian animation ‘Haboob’ is to compete at the 2021 Stuttgart Int’l Festival of Animated Film in Germany.

Iranian animation ‘Haboob’ has been selected to compete at the 28th Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) in Germany.

Directed by Mahsa Samani and produced by Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), the animation will compete at the special nature award section of the Oscar-qualifying ITFS in May 2021.

The 9-minute animation is about a father and his daughter who live in peace with nature. They have a great life but climate change alters their life.

‘Haboob’ went on screen at the 11th Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan, where it won the award for best short animation.

According to the official website of the ITFS, “it ranks among the world’s most important events for animated film in all its aspects. Every year, it attracts up to 100,000 visitors and industry professionals from all over the world with the best of high-quality animations and interactive works”.

The 2021 edition of the festival takes place in a hybrid form. Its onsite version is slated for May 4-9 and the online version will be held on May 3-16.
