‘The Recess’ on screening list of Reality Bytes fest

Iranian short flick ‘The Recess’ has found a place at the 2021 Reality Bytes Independent Student Film Festival in the US.

Written, produced and directed by Navid Nikkhah-Azad, the short film on a 17-year-old school-girl named Sahar will be competing at the 20th edition of the Reality Bytes fest, which is due for April 12-14, 2021.

‘The Recess’ tells us about Sahar who runs away from school to watch the football match of her beloved club.

Sahar, along with three of her friends, is planning to exit the school during the break in order to watch the match between Esteghlal FC and Al Ain FC at Azadi Sports Complex.

Mozhan Kordi, Reyhaneh Naieean, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili are on the cast list.

So far, ‘The Recess’ participated in the 13th Sofia MENAR Film Festival (SMFF) in Bulgaria, the 2021 Lebu International Film Festival (CINELEBU) in Chile and the 19th Garden State Film Festival in the US.

The 18th Oxford Film Festival (OFF) in the US previously bestowed the award for best short film on ‘The Recess’.

Spain-based FeelSales Film Company is in charge of the international distribution of the flick.

The Reality Bytes is a yearly festival sponsored by Northern Illinois University’s Department of Communication. It is designed to allow college and graduate students to competitively screen their films.
