Get to know Iran’s Tajabad-e Sofla Caravanserai

Building caravanserais has been common in Iran for a long time and there are many caravanserais in different parts of the country.

As one of the rarest circular caravanserais in Iran, Tajabad Caravanserai is located in the village of Tajabad in Hamedan.

The structure was registered as a national monument of Iran in 1997.

Unlike most of the caravanserais that have rectangular plans, Tajabad is circular.

A total of 26 rooms are located in front of an inn, the floor of which is paved with stones. The building hosts two water wells.

The main materials used in the construction of Tajabad Caravanserai are red brick and mortar (Sarooj).
