Last active watermill of Mazandaran Province in photos

ifilm English website presents a pictorial report of the last standing watermill in the Iranian province of Mazandaran.

Watermills have been frequently used in Iran’s provinces in the old times, but now a few of them are still standing.

Watermills work with hydropower and are used for grinding grains such as wheat.

The last standing watermill of Mazandaran province is in the village of Dineh Sar Dodangeh in Sari city.

Because of the massive streaming fresh water in the area, the watermill is still working and people of the surrounding villages bring their grains to be grinded by the mill.

The operators of the mill teach the work to their sons and the job passes from father to son.
