‘The Son’ bags awards at Moscow filmfest

The Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) in Russia has awarded Iranian film ‘The Son’.

The Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) in Russia has awarded Iranian film ‘The Son’.

The film directed by Noushin Meraji bagged two awards at various sections of the 2021 edition of the event.

Well received by critics and audiences, Meraji’s directorial debut won best directing and the best actor in a leading role awards.

‘The Son’ narrates the story of humankind’s loneliness and how he/she tries to get rid of it.

Soheil Qannadan, Nahid Haddadi, Donya Heidari, Mojtaba Fallahi and Atabak Naderi are among the cast members of the flick.

Mehdi Fard-Qaderi, who has been in charge of the film’s production, is a renowned Iranian filmmaker. His latest project as a director has been ‘Weightlessness’ that has grabbed awards at various global events.

The Moscow International Film Festival is considered one of the oldest film festivals in the world dating back to 1935.

This Russian cinematic event is compared in importance to its other European equivalents such as Cannes and Berlin film festivals.

The 43rd edition of the event was held on April 22-29 in Moscow.
