Read on to know Iranian Malek Museum

Malek Museum in the Iranian province of Tehran has been one of the amazing places to visit and feel the grandeur of Iranian art and history.

The museum was inaugurated in 1997 and currently contains hundreds of manuscripts, thousands of books as well as other historical items such as coins, stamps, carpets, and paintings.

A great collection of Iranian master Kamal-ol-Molk’s paintings are kept in this museum.

About 200 years ago, this place was a military training zone named Meidan Mashgh. The function of the place has been changed; and today people come here to visit the amazing Malek National Library and Museum.

The military trainings in Meidan Mashgh looked like what is exhibited in this painting back in the old days. As you see, the sizes are exaggerated a little bit.

Malek National Library and Museum and its precious collections are donated by its founder Haj Hossein Malek in an act of Waqf (endowment) to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine.

There is also a collection of coins in the museum that were made in 819 AD.

Haaj Malek, also a major donor of the museum, built the museum and the library with the money he inherited from his grandfather.

Haj Malek was a very religious man, so it’s not a surprise that an invaluable collection of historical Qorans is kept in the museum.

There are many antique pieces in the museum that are not on display in the galleries because of the special condition they need to be kept at.  There are pieces of cloths and carpets and also books that are in the process of restoration.
