‘Close-Up’ to go on screen at Iranian Film Festival Zurich

Iranian classical movie ‘Close-Up’ is to be screened at the Iranian Film Festival Zurich in Switzerland.

Iranian classical movie ‘Close-Up’ is slated to be screened at the 2021 Iranian Film Festival Zurich in Switzerland.

Late prominent director Abbas Kiarostami's film will be displayed alongside a lineup of other Iranian films at the 2021 edition of the festival.

Abbas Kiarostami, who has died in July 2016, was an Iranian film director whose ‘Taste of Cherry’ grabbed the Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.

"It was in his Close Up ... that Kiarostami left students of world cinema with a masterpiece to behold and wonder at for generations to come," a cinematic article hails the Iranian director's film as saying.

The IFFZ aims to fill the cultural gap between Iranians and Swiss as well as the many foreigners living in Switzerland.

The event defines itself as, “A Platform for presenting the Iranian culture and tradition and for building a bridge between different cultures by the means of the universal language of art and especially the 7th art, cinema”.

The 7th edition of the event will launch on May 27 – June 2, 2021.
