Screenwriter of iFilm hit series ‘Kimia’ has passed away at the age of 65. Massoud Behbahaninia, the screenwriter of several TV series, died on June 5 due to a heart attack.
Hungarian-French-German feature ‘Natural Light’ has won the best film award at the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) in Iran. During a virtual closing ceremony, the organizers of the FIFF announced the winners at the 38th edition of the festival. The Golden Simorgh for best film went to ‘Natural Light’ by Hungarian director Denes Nagy.
Ashgar Farhadi’s ‘A Hero’ has made its way to the 2021 edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The list of selected films by the selection committee of the 74th edition of the event was announced during a press conference.
‘Pari' and ‘The Visit’ have been named best films at the seventh edition of Iranian Film Festival of Zurich (IFFZ) in Switzerland. Siamak Etemadi’s ‘Pari’, which is about an Iranian mother named Pari who is looking for her missing son in Athens, won the best feature film award at IFFZ. The best feature film is awarded the Golden Cyrus Cylinder and a cash price.
In the festival’s Short Film competition, Azadeh Mousavi’s ‘The Visit’ was named the best short film. ‘The Visit’ is about a young girl and her mother who are on their way to visit the father of the family in jail.
Iranian feature ‘The Slaughterhouse’ has brought home the main prize of the 2021 Reims Polar Film Festival in France. Abbas Amini’s movie, which is a narrative of some contemporary social issues, succeeded to win the jury prize of the 36th edition of the Reims Polar filmfest. “It’s been a few months that Amir has been deported from France. For the sake of his father, Amir is engaged in a shocking crime,” a synopsis for the movie reads.
