Award-winning documentary ‘Mahin’ is themed on first female serial killer in Iran with literary inspiration from Agatha Christie’s novels.
The amazingly grabbing doc directed by Mahmmad-Hossein Heidari has recently been screened online via Iranian VoD platforms.
‘Mahin’ follows the real story of Mahin Qadiri who became the first Iranian female serial killer, charged with the murder of six people, including five women, in Qazvin, northwest of Tehran.
She disclosed a literary inspiration behind her attempts to evade detection, that is the crime novels of Agatha Christie.
“Mahin in her confessions said that she had taken patterns from Agatha Christie's books and had been trying not to leave any trace of herself,” Qazvin prosecutor Mohammad Baqer Olfat said.
This documentary has won three awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Artistic Achievement at the 7th Shahr International Film Festival in Iran.
