Cinema iFilm has highlighted ‘Children of Heaven’ directed by Majid Majidi.

“On his way back from the cobbler, Ali loses his sister’s shoes. Since they are from a poor family and are afraid to break the news to their parents, Ali comes up with a plan to share his pair of sneakers with Zahra so that she will be able to go to school.

When Ali hears of an upcoming regional cross-country race, with a pair of brand-new sneakers as the third prize, he decides to enter the competition and finish third at all cost”, a synopsis of the internationally acclaimed movie reads.

Reza Naji, Mir-Farrokh Hashemian, Bahareh Seddiqi, and Fereshteh Sarabandi are among the cast members of the film.

Winning several international awards, ‘Children of Heaven’ has been the first Iranian movie nominated for an Oscar.

The movie won four awards at the Montreal Film Festival in Canada in 1997. The Singapore International Film Festival presented the Best Asian Feature Film award to the movie the next year. The Warsaw International Film Festival also honored it with the Audience Award.

The Fajr Film Festival in Iran hailed the movie with four awards, including the Best Film, the Best Director, the Best Screenplay, and the Best Editing.
