Berlinale audiences pick ‘Ballad of a White Cow’

Audiences of the 71st Berlin Int’l Film Festival in Germany pick Iranian ‘Ballad of a White Cow’.

Audiences of the 71st Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in Germany have picked Iranian ‘Ballad of a White Cow’.

Directed by Maryam Moqaddam and Behtash Sanaeeha, the movie stood on the third spot at the Competition Audience Award section of the 71st Berlinale.

The storyline of the movie reads “Mina's life is turned upside down when she learns that her husband was innocent of the crime for which he was executed, so she starts a silent battle against a cynical system for her own and her daughter's sake.”

Mina tries to get her life together, take good care of her child and make both ends meet. However, her life gets more sorrowful when she finds out that her husband was innocent.

The cast list of the movie includes Moqaddam, Alireza Sanifar, Farid Qobadi, Lili Farhadpour, and Pouria Rahimi-Sam.

‘Ballad of a White Cow’ was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in the US.

The Berlinale, along with the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals, is one of the largest and most important film festivals in the world. It also hosts the largest European film market.

This year’s edition took place in two parts; an industry-focused, online-only event running on March 1-5, and a Summer Special event featuring physical screenings, held on June 9-20.
