‘Smile of the Mask’ wins awards at South America Awards

Iranian short film ‘Smile of the Mask’ has garnered three awards at the 2021 South America Awards (SAA) festival.

Abbas Ghazali’s short film, which deals with the issue of acid attacks, won the Best Experimental Film and the Best Cinematography Experimental Film.

Also, the Best Actress Experimental Film award went to Zahra Karimi who is also the producer of the film.

“This was not my dream,” a tagline of the short reads.

Ghazali’s short flick was filmed last year in Turkey and participated in several international festivals, including the 6th Bremen Film Festival in Germany, the 2021 Brazil International Monthly Film Festival, and the 2021 Couch Film Festival in Canada.

The SAA is a bimonthly festival that provides an opportunity for international films to compete.

There is also an annual competition in which the winners will compete.

The event was held on June.
