Cannes festival reviews Farhadi’s film

Website of Cannes Film Festival has published a review on Oscar-winner Asghar Farhadi’s latest offering ‘A Hero’.

Website of Cannes Film Festival has published a review on Oscar-winner Asghar Farhadi’s latest offering ‘A Hero’.

The flick set to premiere at the 2021 edition of Cannes fest in France was shortly reviewed by Charlotte Pavard.

“Ghahreman, the "hero" is Rahim (Amir Jadidi), in prison because of an unpaid debt. While he is on leave, the woman he loves, who believes in him, convinces him to try to pay it off with a bag loaded with money that she found. His decision has repercussions which transform the protagonist into a hero,” the review reads.

It adds, “As he does in all his films, Asghar Farhadi takes his character right to the limit: a young man full of hope who always thinks that everything will turn out all right, who discovers from experience the pitfalls of media attention.”

The film, which is set to go on screen July 13 at the fest, was shot in Shiraz, the ancient capital of Persia in the south of Iran, and one of the country's cultural and artistic capitals.

“Rahim is in prison because of a debt he was unable to repay. During a two-day leave, he tries to convince his creditor to withdraw his complaint against the payment of part of the sum. But things don't go as planned,” a synopsis for ‘A Hero’ reads.

The world sales of ‘A Hero’ began by Paris-based Memento Films International in February during the European Film Market in Berlin. The French production and sales outfit has collaborated with Farhadi on his last three films.

The 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival is underway and wraps up on July 17.

You can view a cut from 'A Hero' by the two-time Oscar-winning Iranian director who made several masterpieces such as 'A Separation and 'The Salesman'.
