The Iranian Academy of Arts (IAA) honored filmmaking master Majid Majidi with the IAA Plaque of Glory. The plaque was presented to Majidi following a screening of his acclaimed movie ‘Sun Children’ during a special ceremony at the IAA on Thursday.
Receiving the award, Majidi said, “This film was produced to generate motivation for the construction of schools for child workers across the country, however, screening the film was thwarted by the pandemic, and I hope organizing meetings like this could help achieve the aim.”
Iranian screenwriter Iman Davari won the top award of the 2021 Beyond Time Genre Awards Film Festival in France. Davari, who has previously participated in several global film festivals with his screenplays, grabbed the Best Genre Script Award at the 3rd edition of the French bi-monthly event for his screenplay ‘The Organon’.
The 16th edition of the Neum Animated Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina awarded Iranian animation ‘This Side, Other Side’. The Iranian title was announced as the best in the category of 2D and 3D animation.
Directed by Lida Fazli, the animation shows some kids from the two sides of a borderline that make friends and play games with one another. This amity between the kids enrages the adults and triggers them to start a war. However, the kids continue to play with each other while the adults are fighting.
