Iran’s ‘Dualpa’ awarded at RIFF in Italy

Iranian short ‘Dualpa’ is awarded at the River Film Festival in Italy.

Iranian short flick ‘Dualpa’ has grabbed an award at the 15th edition of the River Film Festival (RIFF) in Italy.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported on Wednesday that ‘Dualpa’ won the audience award for best international short film at the RIFF.

Written and directed by Mohammad-Reza Moradi, the 18-minute film is about a young man who meets a strange old man while he was looking for a legendary creature in the deserts of Iran.

He agrees to help the old man to find his tribe’s holy book in return for receiving a treasure.

The difficulty of his mission is that he should carry the old man, according to a synopsis for the film.

The 15th edition of the RIFF took place on July 1-25, 2021.

In the festival, “we encounter stories, techniques and people that are all very different, but are united by the idea that Cinema can offer a spectacular wide-open window on multiculturality through images from all over the world,” the event’s website reads.
