Iranian short ‘The Other’ to vie in Austria

Iranian short film ‘The Other’ has been selected to compete at the 49th edition of the Festival of Nations (FON) in Austria.

Made by Ako Zand-Karimi and Saman Hosseinpour, the short film will be screened at the main competition program of the 2021 edition of the Austrian fest.

‘The Other’ tells the story of a traditional man who suspects his dead wife of having had a relationship with another man.

Things go from bad to worse when he suspects that her daughter belongs to the other man.

The cast list of the flick includes Majid Potki, Mohammad Bidaq-Beigi, Asieh Moradizar, and Shiva Soufi-Mahmoudi.

The film has already participated in a number of global events and won awards, including the Best Silent Film award at the Venice Intercultural Film Festival in Italy and the Best Cinematography award at the International Film and Music Festival Kustendorf in Serbia.

The FON takes place annually in Lenzing village in Austria and welcomes filmmakers from all around the world.

This year’s edition of the event will be held on September 9-14, 2021.
