iFilm exclusive on Iranian feature ‘Abji’

iFilm English TV releases exclusive report on Iranian feature ‘Abji’ by Marjan Ashrafizadeh.

iFilm English TV has released exclusive report on Iranian feature film ‘Abji’ (The Sis) directed by Marjan Ashrafizadeh.

iFilm interviewed the director, the producer Mohammad-Hossein Qasemi, the editor Sina Ganjavi, and the actor Siavash Cheraghipour.

‘Abji’ narrates the story of two women who have lived together for more than 50 years, but the situation does not remain the same and the separation time arrives.

Co-written by Ashrafizadeh, Ali Asghari and Nahid Tabatabaee, the movie deals with the issues related to women and the difficulties they face in life.

“Tala and Ati ... are a mother and daughter who have lived together for many years; almost 50 years, as long as the life of Sis. Their situation, however, does not last long, and the days of separation arrive. The separation happens when Ati depends heavily on her mother due to her special conditions, and Tala is trying to provide security for Ati's future in the remaining time; a future without her presence,” its synopsis reads.

‘Abji’ has won the best feature film award at the 4th Afghanistan International Women Film Festival.

It has gone on screen at some global events, including the International Orthodox Film Festival in Russia, the Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico, the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival in China, the Brooklyn Film Festival in the US, the Iranian film festival in Germany, the Pune International Film Festival in India, and the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.

Besides Cheraghipour, Pantea Panahiha, Hamid-Reza Azarang, Babak Hamidiyan and Shirin Yazdanbakhsh are among the main cast.
