‘African Violet’ to screen at Iranian filmfest-San Francisco

Iranian award-winning movie ‘African Violet’ is scheduled to be screened at the Iranian Film Festival-San Francisco (IFF-San Francisco) in the US.

Iranian award-winning movie ‘African Violet’ is scheduled to be screened at the Iranian Film Festival-San Francisco (IFF-San Francisco) in the US.

The movie directed by Mona Zandi-Haqiqi, will be screened at the main section of the event.

The 93-minute film is a compassionate drama of strength and reunion about Shokouh, a woman who finds out that her ex-husband, Fereydoun, has been placed in a nursing home by their children.

She and her new husband, who used to be her ex-husband's friend, make an unconventional decision to take care of Fereydoun in their own home.

Bringing Fereydoun to their home causes some troubles which leads the family to new adventures and revelations on their bonds.

The film stars Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Saeed Aqakhani, Reza Babak, Mehdi Hosseininia, Roya Javidnia, and Neda Jebraeeli.

The IFF-San Francisco, is the first independent Iranian film festival outside of Iran.

This year, the festival will screen 60 films from Iran, and other countries, including the US, the UK, Italy, Canada, Germany, France, China, Bulgaria, and Tunisia.

The 14th annual Iranian Film Festival – San Francisco will take place on September 18-19.
