The Reading Film Fest in the US is to screen Iranian short ‘Goodbye Olympics’.

The Reading Film Fest in the US has scheduled to screen Iranian short flick ‘Goodbye Olympics’.

The first directorial experience of Mojtaba Pourbakhshi is about a canoeing female athlete who faces many challenges in her journey to the Olympics.

“Maria is a Kayaking champion waiting to leave for a race held in France which is an Olympics Qualifying event. The departure of her team will be cancelled over some emerging problems,” a brief synopsis for the flick reads.

‘Goodbye Olympic’ has already attended a number of international events, including the Triste Para Sempre (Sad Forever) Film Festival in Portugal, the MICGenero film festival in Mexico, the International Unseen Film Festival “Film Sozialak” Bilbao in Spain, the Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival (HAAPIFEST) in the US, the Liberec International FICTS Festival in Czech Republic, the Beijing International FICTS Festival in China, the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival in the US, the Waterwalker Film Festival in Canada, where it won an honorable mention, and the Sport Film Liberec in the Czech Republic, where it received best film award at the festival’s Olympic Games/Olympic Ideas section.

Ramin Rastad, Farajollah Golsefidi, Houman Javadi, Mehri Alaqa, Tahereh Amouzadeh, Asghar Sandousi, Morteza Ghadiri and Maryam Jahani are some of the flick’s cast members.

The Reading Film Fest presents films that promote conversation about racial issues. The event also includes panel discussions and Q&A sessions with filmmaker.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s festival will be a hybrid event, combining both virtual and in-person activities in Reading City in the US state of Pennsylvania.

The upcoming edition of the festival will take place on September30-October 3, 2021.

Several Iranian titles, including ‘The Blue Bed’ by Alireza Kazemipour, ‘I Dream My Mother’s Dreams’ by Hojjat Gholami, and ‘113’ by Neda Assef, won some awards at the previous edition of the Reading event.
