Iran and Italy have planned to make their first joint cinematic film production titled ‘Merchant of Venice’. The production permit was issued on Wednesday by Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
Co-produced by Iran’s Alireza Sajjadpour and Italy-based International Film S.R.L. Company, ‘Merchant of Venice’ will be directed by Saleh Deldam.
Iranian films ‘Balora’ and ’Kal Fatemeh’ won awards at the Apricot Tree Ujan International Documentary Film Festival in Armenia.
Abdolqader Khaledi’s ‘Balora’ won the special jury prize in the short documentary section of the festival. The film is about a particular style of old and forgotten Kurdish singing called Balora.
‘Kal Fatemeh’ by Mehdi Zamanpur Kiasari received the Martin Adoyan award. It is about Fatemeh, an elderly woman who lives with her two sons on a farm on the outskirts of Zerum Village in Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran.
