Iran-Germany ‘Extra Sauce’ wins award at Francesco Paziniti fest

Iran-Germany co-production ‘Extra Sauce’ has won the Best Cinematography Award at the 18th Francesco Paziniti Film Festival in Italy.

Iran-Germany co-production ‘Extra Sauce’ has succeeded to bag the Best Cinematography Award at the 18th edition of the Francesco Paziniti Film Festival in Italy.

The cinematographers Christian Neuberger and Michael Throne jointly received the award at the 2021 Francesco Paziniti fest.

Directed by Iranian filmmaker Alireza Qasemi, ‘Extra Sauce’ is about Hans, a mediocre heartbroken actor, who is greeted by an Angel of Death after attempting to take his life an hour before his play’s premiere.

“A sarcastic dark humor conversation begins as Hans tries to convince the Angel that he should be brought back to the world of the living while the Angel enjoys delicious cheeseburgers and lemonade and gives the actor relationship advice,” according to IMDB.

The cast list of the short film includes Ben Janssen and Antonio Lallo.

‘Extra Sauce’ was previously screened at the 19th FILMZ - Festival of German Cinema,the the 2020 Spanish FANCINE - Fantastic Film Festival, the 22nd Sarasota Film Festival in the US and the 38th Torino Film Festival, the second largest film festival in Italy.

The film has previously won best screenplay and best actor awards at the Canberra Short Film Festival in Australia, an honorary mention for Best Short Film – Comedy at the Queen Palm International Film Festival in California, the US.

Recently, the short piece received an honorary mention for cinematography at the 19th Italian Corto e a Capo Film Festival.

The Francesco Paziniti Film Festival is dedicated to creating avenues for independent filmmakers, youth, filmmakers of conscience, and artists to come together and exhibit their work to the widest possible audience.

The event announced its winners on September 11, 2021.
