Tehran's alley named after Afghanistan’s Panjshir

An alley in the northern part of Iran’s capital city Tehran has been named after Afghanistan’s Panjshir in order to express solidarity with Afghan people who are fighting against the Taliban forces.

There are three other streets in Tehran which have been already named by the City Council of Tehran after three parts of Afghanistan, namely Kandahar, Ghazni and Herat.

Panjshir was the only province that remained out of Taliban's reach during their blitz across Afghanistan last month.

According to a statement made by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on September 6, the blockade of the Panjshir in the north of Kabul by the Taliban contravenes international law and humanitarian law.
