‘Three Meters and a Few Centimeters’ to attend Sapporo filmfest

The Sapporo Int'l Short Film Festival in Japan is to screen Iran’s ‘Three Meters and a Few Centimeters’.

The 2021 edition of the Sapporo International Short Film Festival in Japan has been set to screen Iranian ‘Three Meters and a Few Centimeters’.

Written and directed by Mostafa Salehinejad, the short documentary revolves around a COVID-19 issue in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz.

The coronavirus has not only caused many deaths but also created a crisis in burial traditions.

According to the obligations of Islam, when someone dies, the body must be washed by hand in order to move on to the hereafter cleansed.

Because of the COVID-19’s wild and deadly infection, few people are willing to touch the bodies of those killed by the virus, which creates a crisis in the city.

Also set to take part in the Foca International Archeology and Cultural Heritage Film Days in Turkey and the Viva Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ‘Three Meters and a Few Centimeters’ has so far gone on screen at global events such as the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival in the US.

The Sapporo International Short Film Festival is one of Japan and Asia’s largest and most respected events to showcase short form cinema.

The festival provides an opportunity for filmmakers to expose their works to large audiences and to submit them for appraisal by high profile international jury members.

The 16th edition of the Japanese event will take place in the city of Sapporo on October 13-November 30, 2021.
