Uppsala fest to host Iranian ‘Vadiyar’

Iranian short ‘Vadiyar’ is to compete at the 2021 Uppsala Short Film Festival in Sweden.

Iranian short flick ‘Vadiyar’ has been selected to compete at the 2021 edition of the Uppsala International Short Film Festival in Sweden.

Directed by Marjan Khosravi, the short film is about a child who is encouraged by villagers to take revenge on a dog who has attacked a pregnant woman in the village.

They believe the incident can spread rabies virus to all the residents of the village. However, the boy makes a different decision because he has a close relationship with nature and animals.

The cast list of the film includes Masih Najafi, Maryam Moradian, Habib Tajmiri, Didar Mahmoudi and Majid Yousefi.

The Uppsala Film Festival has established itself as one of the most important festivals in Europe. According to the official website of the festival “winning the international or national competition at the festival makes a film eligible for a nomination for an Oscar. The festival is also recognized by the European Film Academy and BAFTA”.

The fortieth edition of the event will be held on October 25-31, 2021.
