Hyrcanian forests are called northern forests in the common and slang language of the Iranian people, and they form the densest forest area in Iran.
The forests, located in the south of the Caspian Sea, are shared on the border of Iran and Azerbaijan Republic.
Hyrcanian forests have been around for centuries, and some even equate them with the third geological period, the dinosaurs’ era.
A forest with such a long life is considered one of the most unique forests in the world and some call it a natural museum or living fossil.
