Spanish fest hosting Iranian ‘The Recess’

Iranian short film ‘The Recess’ has been competing at the 2021 International Social Film Festival of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain.

Written, produced and directed by Navid Nikkhah-Azad, ‘The Recess’ is a 12-minute film that tells the story of a 17-year-old school-girl who runs away from school to watch the football match of her favorite club.

The short flick’s cast list includes Mojan Kordi, Reyhaneh Nabeean, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili.

‘The Recess’ has participated in several international festivals, including the Visioni Corte International Film Festival in Italy, the Sanfrancisco Frozan Film Festival in the US, the Johns Hopkins Film Festival in the US, the River International Film Festival in Italy, and the Vox Feminae Festival in Croatia.

Nikkhah-Azad’s flick has previously grabbed the best short film award at the Johns Hopkins Film Festival and the best short film award at the Oxford Film Festival in the US.

International Social Film Festival of Castilla-La Mancha emphasizes on the importance of audiovisual media and aims to use it as a means of communication and education.

The festival started October 1 and is underway to December 14, 2021.
