The tourist attractions of the southwestern Iranian province of Fars have been going on display in an art exhibition in India.

The exhibition is being held in Salar Jung Museum of Hyderabad with the collaboration of Iran’s Consulate General in Hyderabad.

The exhibit was kicked off on the occasion of Hafez Day on October 12, 2021.

Hafez is the 14th-century world-renowned Persian poet whose poems are regarded by many Iranians as a pinnacle of Persian literature and are often found in the homes of the Iranian people.

Included in the programs to be held at the exhibition is a live performance of calligraphers practicing Nastaliq (one of the main genres of Islamic calligraphy).

The exhibition also has some rare calligraphy samples from the collection Siasat Urdu Daily as well as the Salar Jung Museum.

A collection of photos of Shiraz, Hafez’s hometown, are being showcased at the exhibition too.

Several calligraphers have been invited to inscribe poems from Hafez on wood.

Besides, three rare manuscripts of the Divan of Hafez are scheduled to be showcased at the exhibition, which will run until October 22.

As home to the mausoleums of several poets, including Hafez and Sadi, and numerous cultural heritage sites, Shiraz has been seeking to achieve the title of Iran’s cultural capital over the past few years.
