Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ is slated to vie at Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF).

Asghar Farhadi’s acclaimed directorial experience will be screened at the foreground section of the second edition of the event.

Farhadi's feature is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

The movie is starring Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.

‘A Hero’ was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France. The prize was also shared by Juho Kuosmanen’s ‘Compartment No.6’.

‘A Hero’ is also selected as Iran’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2022 Academy Awards.

Established in 1987, the SGIFF is the largest and longest-running film event in Singapore.

The festival has a focus on showcasing international films and providing a global platform for the best of Singapore, Southeast Asian and East Asian cinema.

This year’s edition of the festival is scheduled for November 25 – December 5.
