Robat Qeli Caravanserai, historical roadside inn in Iran: Photos

Robat Qeli Caravanserai is one of the historical caravanserais (roadside inns) in Iran’s North Khorasan Province.

Robat Qeli Caravanserai lies five kilometers southeast of Qeli Village.

It is one of the 11 caravanserais which have been constructed alongside the historical road connecting Gorgan City in Golestan Province to Neyshabur City in Razavi Khorasan Province.

Most of the roadside inns alongside that road were built as welfare service for pilgrims of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad in Razavi Khorasan Province and to facilitate the movement of trade convoys.

Robat Qeli Caravanserai has been inscribed on Iran’s National Heritage List, and is being considered for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
