Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ participating in NZIFF

Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ is participating in the New Zealand International Film Festival.

Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ by internationally acclaimed director Asghar Farhadi has made its way to the New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF).

‘A Hero’ would receive two screenings at the New Zealand International Film Festival, which opened on Thursday.

Farhadi's feature is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

The movie is starring Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.

‘A Hero’ was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France. The prize was also shared by Juho Kuosmanen’s ‘Compartment No.6’.

‘A Hero’ is selected as Iran’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2022 Academy Awards.

Farhadi’s films ‘A Separation’ (2011) and ‘The Salesman’ (2016) won two Oscars for best foreign-language film.

The 50th edition of New Zealand International Film Festival will run until November 21.
